ORDINATION OF REV. FR. LAURENCE GRESSER F.S.S.P.

Saturday, 4 March 2000 marked a significant day in the life of the Lewisham Community as the first of its seminarians to leave for the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter was ordained to the Holy Priesthood.

His Excellency, the Most Rev. John Michael Sherlock D.D., Bishop of London, Ontario, Canada, conferred upon the then Rev. Mr. Laurence Gresser the order of Priesthood in a magnificent ceremony at his Cathedral Church.

The ordination ceremony took place in the Cathedral Church of St. Peter in London with well over 1000 in attendance.

The music was performed beautifully by an organist and a small, male schola. The propers were sung in plainchant and some renaissance motets were used at the Offertory and Communion.

In his sermon Bishop Sherlock drew attention to the fact that these priests were not being ordained to serve in some small and isolated aspect in the Church's life, but rather for the whole Church; "some people think that these priests will only be serving a narrow part of the church...they are being ordained for the whole church".

The Maternal Heart of Mary Traditional Mass Community warmly congratulates Rev. Fr. Laurence Gresser on his ordination to the Priesthood. Your continued prayers are requested for Fr. Gresser and our other seminarians currently studying abroad.
