  • Maternal Heart Fundraising Committee Stephanie Kara and Consuela Jankovic are heading up a fundraising committee primarily for Maternal Heart projects. Please assist them after Mass on December 23.

    NEW YEAR'S EVE FIREWORKS

    The fundraising committee is hosting its first event and invites you to New Year's Eve at Wanda's place in North Sydney.

    The best view of the fireworks in Sydney!

    5pm Dinner provided. $35 a head. Limited places only.

  • ROSARY PRESENT FOR POPE BENEDICT when he comes to World Youth Day, Australia. The Canberra Latin Mass Society (FSSP) has hand-crafted a large stoneware Rosary which we hope will be presented to the Holy Father as a gift from the Latin Mass faithful throughout Australia. A Signature Book is being prepared. The Rosary is strung with a silver-plated chain and is housed in a hand-made presentation box crafted from Australian Red Cedar. Please sign one of the signature sheets available last week of December/early January. Donations to defer costs are gratefully accepted.

    • December 8, Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Saturday, 9.00am: Solemn Mass.

    • December 5, 12, 19, Extra Advent Masses at Lawson, Wednesdays, 7.00pm.

    • December 24 Christmas Vigil at 6pm (Low Mass) and Matins at 9.00pm.

    • December 25 Christmas Midnight Mass at 12.00am, Dawn Mass at 5am and Day Mass at 9am

  • Your prayers are requested for Michael Pearce, Fr Devine's father, and Camilia Sainty's father, and Fr Adrian Wee. Michael Pearce needs volunteers to be taken to and from his house in Marrickville to St Vincent's Hospital over the coming weeks.

  • St Marks Coptic Catholic Community has invited our community to their Christmas Carols by Candlelight 7pm Sunday, December 8.

  • Fr Fongemie returns December 12. Rumours of the start of a Singles Group organised by Fr Fongemie are confirmed. If interested please give your names to Fr Gresser. Possibility of a first meeting on Friday night, December 14, by which time Fr Fongemie will have returned from holiday.

  • Parramatta First Communion classes have begun at Lawson at 3.30pm Sundays.

  • Lewisham Mass time change: Mass on Tuesday evenings changed from 7pm to 6pm from December 4.

  • Christmas Raffle tickets are being sold after each Sunday Mass. The organizers would welcome any donations to the hampers.

  • Young Adult Education classes for those aged between 16 and 20 years old, starts after Mass on Saturday, December 8. This first week is for girls. Next meeting is for boys.

  • Wednesday Night Adult Education in recess.

  • Fratpack Christmas Party Prospect Reservoir, December 15.

REASSIGNMENT OF PRIESTS

Fr Fongemie has been asked to take over the Fraternity of St Peter's apostolate in Maple Hill, Kansas, in the Archdiocese of Kansas City. Having been ordained in Australia, Fr Fongemie is most grateful for the seven years he has spent here. He will miss you all. He asks for your continued prayers and promises to remember you in his own prayers daily. Father will depart soon after New Year's (ca. Jan 3), as he is required to be present in his new assignment in time for Epiphany.

CHRISTMAS SUPPORT
  • Please contribute to the two December Envelopes Collection. Envelopes may be found in the church entrance.
    1. Christmas Clergy Envelopes for the much-needed support of the clergy;
    2. Christmas Almsgiving Envelopes for those doing it tough this Christmas.
  • St Vincent de Paul Hampers: Last Christmas, SVDP were extremely grateful for the hampers we organized. We will attempt to do the same again. Any toys, food items, or money you can donate will go into these hampers. Please wrap the toys and put a notice on the outside for the appropriate age and gender.
