PENANCE DURING LENT
Canon 1250 - the days and times of penance for the Universal Church are each Friday of the whole year and the season of Lent. [From Canon 1253 - the Bishops' Conference can determine more particular ways in which fasting and abstinence are to be observed. In place of abstinence and fasting it can substitute other forms of penance, especially works of charity and exercises in piety.]
PS: The mind of the Church is to consult a spiritual director before attempting penances above the ordinary. A little penance is always more efficacious if done in obedience than greater penance without or against the virtue of obedience.

FRATERNITY EDUCATION PROGRAMMES

- Fundraising: The fundraising committee has so far raised $4325. The St Noseph's Dinner raised $2500.
- Almsgiving: is a major opportunity for penance especially during Septuagesima and Lent. Envelopes will be available from next week.
- House Blessings - It is very important to have your house blessed. This is the time of the year to contact the priests and make an appointment. Please inform the priest when your house was last blessed or how long since the last blessing, and whether the Sacred Heart has been enthroned in your home.
- Census Cards: Reminder to all to register with the Chaplaincy team.
- Ezechiel House: Work has started on the upper floor.
- Welcome to Sub-Deacon Dominic Poppelwell: We are grateful for his presence here for the Holy Week. He is returning to the seminary this semester and to be ordained Deacon, before returning to Australia.
